De-Stress Your Teens and Pre-Teens

Here we are, beginning a new school year.  Before students get bogged down with their studies and extra-curricular activities, let us ask you this.  Need incentive to sign your school-aged children up for some yoga classes?  Studies show that students who take yoga perform better, lessen anxiety and improve their mood.

Incorporate yoga or something like it into PE classes – Evidence is mounting that yoga can improve the mental health of students of all ages. A ten-week pilot study involving a relatively small group of 11th graders at a high school in Massachusetts showed that students enrolled in yoga classes performed 12th better on tests measuring mood and anxiety than those who took a more traditional PE class. The 2012 study, published in The Journal of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics in 2012, concluded that ‘yoga classes have positive psychological effects for high school students.’
